Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Who can purchase a certificate? Anyone can purchase a certificate. A certificate owner under the age of 18 must have an adult sponsor who is responsible for the certificate payments. How do I receive my pay out at maturity? You will need to return the original paid in full certificate, which you will receive when the certificate is paid in full. You will also be required to complete a W-9 form. Both of these documents need to be received by our office before the certificate is paid off. What if I do not have the original certificate? If you do not have the original certificate, contact Church Extension Plan and request an Indemnity Agreement form. This form states that the original certificate has been lost and that it replaces the original document. Can I gift the certificate to the church? Yes, when you are completing the Certificate Purchase Agreement you are given the opportunity to gift your matured certificate to the church. This is an irrevocable choice, which means that it can never be changed. What happens if I cannot make my payments?
If you are unable to continue your monthly payments, please contact Church Extension Plan immediately for other options. If other arrangements cannot be made, the certificate will be automatically transferred to the church and you will forfeit all your payments. What happens to the certificate if I die? We have a death benefit we pay out if an owner/purchaser dies and they are under the age of 60 at the time of purchase. The maturity value is immediately paid to the surviving beneficiary when proper documentation is received. Can I get the maturity value of my certificate early? No, Church Extension Plan does not pay off certificates before the maturity date. |
